PowerSafe Engineering is a nationwide, PE-led electrical-safety firm. We're looking for engineers and field surveyors who want to do real power system work — arc flash, short circuit, and coordination studies grounded in field-verified data.

Electrical Engineer

Full-time · Remote (U.S.)

Support the power system studies at the core of our work — arc flash, short circuit, protective device coordination, and voltage drop — building and validating the models a licensed PE reviews and seals.

Responsibilities

  • Build and validate power system models in SKM Power*Tools from field-collected data and one-line diagrams.
  • Perform IEEE 1584 incident energy (arc flash) analysis and interpret the results for each work location.
  • Run short circuit and protective device coordination studies, and evaluate voltage drop / load flow scenarios.
  • Develop and check protective device setting recommendations that reduce incident energy while preserving coordination.
  • Produce clear, well-documented study reports and updated one-line diagrams for PE review and seal.
  • Coordinate with field surveyors to resolve data gaps and confirm equipment and device information.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of power distribution systems and protective devices.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, and the IEEE 3000-series methods.
  • Comfort with power system modeling software (SKM Power*Tools experience is a strong plus).
  • Strong technical writing and attention to detail for audit-ready documentation.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • EIT or PE a plus.
  • Authorized to work in the US.

Traveling Field Surveyor

Full-time · Remote (U.S.) — nationwide travel required

Collect the field data our studies are built on. You travel to client facilities nationwide, open the gear, and capture the equipment and system data our engineers model — so studies are built from real conditions, not out-of-date drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site data collection: equipment nameplates, conductor and cable data, protective device types, and existing device settings.
  • Work on and around energized equipment safely, using appropriate PPE and following NFPA 70E work practices.
  • Field-verify and red-line one-line diagrams to reflect actual as-installed conditions.
  • Photograph and document equipment, panel layouts, and access details for the engineering team.
  • Organize and hand off complete, legible field data packages to the engineers building the models.
  • Coordinate site logistics and scheduling with facility contacts and the project team.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on electrical field experience and comfort working in electrical rooms and around distribution equipment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to client sites (overnight travel required).
  • Ability to read one-line diagrams and identify equipment, conductors, and protective devices.
  • Disciplined documentation habits — accurate, organized, and legible field notes.
  • Relevant field/electrical experience preferred.
  • Authorized to work in the US.
